The 2008 National Electrical Code® (NEC) requires all non-locking 15 and 20 ampere, 125- and 250-volt receptacles installed in wet and damp locations to be weather-resistant receptacles.
Cracked covers or corrosion can cause premature receptacle failure in challenging environments, and P&S Weather-Resistant Receptacles are built to perform in such conditions. Weather-Resistant Receptacles are required for a variety of residential and commercial applications including outdoors, porches, under canopies, wash down areas, and more.
All receptacles are cULus listed, and they're listed to the weather-resistant supplement of UL498, meeting demanding UL® requirements including:
Ultraviolet light exposure test |
Cold impact test |
Accelerated aging test |
Stringent material requirements for current carrying parts, wire binding screws and mounting straps to ensure superior corrosion resistance |
Receptacles installed in wet and damp locations still require weatherproof covers. The product line includes a variety of duplex, decorator and specification grade receptacles in commercial and residential versions. The residential varieties are also Tamper-Resistant, letting plugs in while preventing children from inserting keys and other objects. The Tamper-Resistant design is also required in residential installations by the 2008 NEC.
